The H1N1 swine flu virus is still circulating in the United States, and health officials have noted a troubling uptick in the number of cases in several southeastern states, particularly Georgia.

The H1N1 swine flu appears to spread more slowly than “regular” seasonal flu in a household setting, but when it does spread it’s more likely to affect children.

The World Health Organization is witnessing an international decline, and is discussing criteria for declaring the pandemic over. Britain this week shut down its swine flu hot line, which was set up to diagnose cases and give out Tamiflu.
